On her 40th birthday in March 1947, the singer and actress Zarah Leander sits alone in her Swedish country house and waits in vain for congratulations. But "the world does not end there": thoughtfully she literally reviews her previous life by artfully linking her memories and (film) songs. A prime piece for the mezzo-soprano Melanie Lang, who fills this demanding one-woman performance with great passion. But the piece, premiered in 1992, not only pays tribute to "a woman who knows what she wants", but also clearly shows the duality of Zarah Leander's career during the Nazi era. Was it really possible to focus exclusively on art? Why did the UFA star leave Berlin only in 1943? International organizers therefore for years shunned the once-celebrated actress, who now fears the early end of her career and hopes "a miracle will happen"...
